1.要是只按字面的话这样翻译:
Failure made many people give up there plan,but my father was different ,failure made him work harder.
但是我个人更倾向于比较个性化的翻译:
Failure ruined many people's dream(plan),but not my father's.However,failure made him more hard-working.
都用了过去时,也可改为一般现在时.
2.A worker could ask for his compensation when he was hurt at the construction site
