同样，你的句子也是：

cut two holes in the two doors of his flat,(one big,the other small,so as for his two cats to pass through.)全是补充说明的后置。
说白了就是 用them重复了，因为有two holes
so as for his two cats to pass through to the two holes

不过好像越说越复杂了。呵呵。
一句话：so as to pass through是后置定语，它的宾语在前面找,不用再加them去做宾语。

PASS THROUGH相当于及物动词，不需要再加THEM

so as for two cats to pass through中，pass through的宾语为two holes, 已经在前面的句中提到（前置），此处就不应再加。
