表面意思是去看球..
went to play a football match..那就是去踢球~~

都可以吧，但是 went to a football match 和 去看球 更自然的说法；
去踢球该说：（he） went to play (ball)

去踢球~因为went系go的最高级~
而看足球就系;watch football match

到一场足球比赛

看球
