摘要：乡镇企业的发展对于繁荣我国农村经济，解决农村就业问题，增加农民收入有着重要意义。江苏省地处东部沿海经济发达地区，乡镇企业为全省国民经济特别是农村经济发展做出了贡献。乡镇企业能够吸纳大量农村剩余劳动力，加快农村城镇化的进程。更重要的是，乡镇企业改变了农村经济结构，打破了“城市-工业”“农村-农业”的二元经济格局，开辟了一条由单一农业经济向三大产业综合发展的农村工业化发展的道路，加快了农村城镇化的进程。研究江苏省乡镇企业的发展状况，对促进乡镇企业可持续高效发展，促进农村社会经济乃至全省国民经济的繁荣具有重要的意义。江苏省乡镇企业一直都存在着南北差距，如果差距扩大，会在一定程度上制约乡镇企业的整体经济发展，违背社会公平的需要，还会带来社会问题。基于乡镇企业发展中存在的问题，本文对江苏省苏南与苏北的乡镇企业区域差异进行了比较，在此基础上分析了差异的特点和差异产生的原因，将有助于人们找出导致区域经济发展差距的根源，从而有利于为苏北今后的快速发展提供切实可行的战略措施。
