语言的学习规律告诉我们，从新的语言知识输入到运用有一个处理、内化的过程，完成这个过程需要一定的语言接触的机会。仅仅通过课内阅读来接触语言是远远不够的。扩大课外阅读量是提高学生阅读能力，扩大知识而的有效途径。

Step3：科学地设计练习，训练阅读技巧
可以把学生的阅读训练分为两类：一类以开阔学生视野、阅读欣赏为主；这类材料应配以少量题目，一般以事实细节题为主，用以检查学生对材料的一般理解程度。另一类是有针对性地对学生进行阅读技巧地训练，这些技巧可以包括：抓主旨大意、抓特殊细节、根据上下文猜测词义、推断隐含意义、辨认语段过渡等，这一类训练不应满足于向学生提供一般阅读理解力的检测性题目，而应提供训练性题目，有目的、有重点地引导学生使用某项阅读技巧；这类题目应让学生读前先看，以便带着目的、根据要求去读。经过长期、细致、科学地阅读训练，课堂课外教学的有机结合，相信学生能够养成良好的阅读习惯，提高阅读理解能力的。
