答案是combining 但是 to后不是加动词不定式吗．为什么不是 combine．若此处to是介词 那怎么区别to是动词不定式符号还是介词呢？

1,the key to sth/doing sth.这个to 如果做介词后面加宾语或doing的结构，这个是积累出来的，固定搭配。
2，首先这个might be是和前面那个told一致的，这个确实是要与主句一致，但是后面start就不必了，后面不是一个从句，又表将来的状态，所以用starts.这是现在时表将来
3for 不可以用于句首。
4也对，但是考察的是other 的用法。
5还是固定搭配，make contribution to doing，小同学，词组要记准确啊！
