意思我知道，但是语法很糊涂，麻烦分析下谢谢

be tipped off 被人告知秘密
be tipped off in advance about sth 被人提前告知什么事情
而这件事情就是a pending raid。显然是有人要袭击叛军，于是他们策划了埋伏，反袭击。
