英语的THE 和A

为什么不是 the time for families to get together
而是两者都可以,不是应该用THE表示强调吗,应该怎样区别呢?谢谢

the 一般是表示特指，而a 或者是an这类的表示泛指。the end of the year就是特指改年的年底，但是年底是一个笼统的概念，很任意的一个时间所以用a。就好比是说“人群中那个穿红色衣服的小男孩”就应该是，the little boy in red in the crowds.一般任意指的时候，比如说，一个红色衣服的男孩，就应该是a little boy in red.
