Why has English changed over time?

这句里 English 前为什么不加 the?

我对一楼做一下补充：
English，Chinese, French等等表示语言，地名的单词前不要加任何冠词，不仅是the,an和a也一样。
我们一般都说：1. I speak English.
2. I'm Chineses.
3. I live in France.
I live in the（a）China/I speak the（a）Chinese 是语法错误的.

English
一般表示地名或语言的词前面都不加冠词the
就好象我们不说I live in the China，I speak the Chinese.是一样的.

没太多理由， 记住地名， 人名， 语言前都不加the

一楼是正确的
