过去分词作状语的题

周报里这么一道题:

这道题为什么要填 "faced" 而不能填 "facing" ??

因为是先面对问题，才失败 所以用faced
如果用facing的话
facing with so much trouble , we fail(faied改成fail一般现在时会更好） to complete the task on time
翻译为，面对许多的问题，我们没能及时的完成这工作
