这句话是对的,建议大家查英英字典更好的理解prove的用法. 这里简单说,something prove to be ture or false,这里的prove就有被动的意思,而且不用be proved

that是同位语从句
为求句子平衡，可改成：
The estimate is proved to be false that as much as one-fourth of all timber harvested is not used.

原句是对的，更加简洁。改过后的句子语法也对，但不地道了。
