一般来说，一个人的听力水平和口语能力密不可分。听力水平高的人可以很好的理解讲话人的意图，并能够听出一些习惯用法的表达，并在以后的口语交流时从自己的记忆库中调用适当的表达方法；口语表达比较好的人一般听力也比较好，因为口语表达是在一种交流的环境中进行的，要让他人理解自己的意思必须首先了解他人的表达习惯和方法，而这正是听力能力的范畴。所以，口语和听力不可分割，而听力又扮演了基础能力的角色。
