UC知道more than为什么放在 made up for前面？请教！

虽然这个家庭在金钱和物质上是那么的缺乏，但是家庭成员间的关爱与和睦弥补了这一切。
在这句子中，more than 是比...更多的意思，made up for 是弥补的意思，为什么要把than 放在前面呢，than不是介词吗？请教！

抹香鲸体内昂贵的鲸油、鲸蜡和龙涎香大大弥补了鲸须的缺乏。
请再比较上面这句，主问题的那句是后面“弥补”前面，补充问题这句是前面“弥补”后面。
而且than 在词典中只有介词和连词的解释，提供两者的比较，何解？请教！
more than这里是不仅仅的意思，是当副词来用
副词放在make up 前面没问题吧

这个地方应该有强调的意思，强调这个家庭在爱与团结中得到的多。
类似表强调的也一般都放在动词前面，例如，
I do like apples very much.(我 确实 很喜欢苹果) 这里的do就是表强调的.
如果从字面就很好了解了：
他们之间有着更加（more than） 强烈的关爱与和睦来弥补。
由于在后半句中没有严重出现我们经常使用的But（但是）来作为感情的转折，所以楼主所谓的more than 是和前半句作为比较而加上的。
指爱与和睦可以更多的胜过物资上的缺乏。

think this way.when the first time to learn "more than",you don't see a ( , -comma)between the compare things.this is the regular way the "more than" to show off.
