可以加个that在damage后面，the investment bank’s collapse would inflict on elderly savers a continent away.表示是他没有考虑到的具体内容。a continent away意思是形容困扰的严重性。整句的意思是：他肯定没有考虑到投行的倒闭给年长储蓄者带来巨大困扰的损失。

其实主句是he surely did not consider the damage.

后面全部是对damage的修饰，即从句。还原的从句是：
the investment bank’s collapse would inflict the damage on elderly savers a continent away.

这句话意思应该是：他肯定没有考虑到投行的倒闭对年长储蓄者造成的伤害。

但是后面的a continent away呢？完全说不通哦……
