第一题的dated from作了整个句子主句的谓语,它应和其后边的从句谓语动词的时态保持一致,故用date from的过去式;而第二句是一个定语从句其中dating from作The body of one statue的定语,省略了which,故用date from的分词形式.
第一句绝对不能用dating，改了就做后置定语，就缺谓语了。用dates也是可以的
第二句，remain后就是接-ing
第一个dated 是过去式 而不是过去分词。是整个句子的谓语
