terrify , threat 的区别 ？

terrify表示吓唬，吓人，但是是程度很高很严肃的那种，比如去鬼屋或者看到车祸。是及物动词。变化有terrifying（形容词）, terrified（副词）等。

Did you do that to terrify me?

It was terrifying.

我很害怕。

threat是威胁，恐吓的意思，有恐怖分子的感觉。它是名词，也是动词，但动词更常用threaten。变化有threatening（形容词）。

USA sees Iraq as a threat.
美国视伊拉克为威胁。

He threatens me that he'll kill my father.
他威胁我说他会把我的父亲杀掉。
