请问这句话为什么反着译？为什么不译成面对国家的挑战？请解释下facing的有吗？谢谢！

如果是"面对国家的挑战",那就是"the challenge facing to the nation"了吧.
这句话你可以这样理解:"He said the challenge which the nation is facing will not be met easily."

facing的用法我也不太清楚，但翻译的话肯定要遵循汉语的习惯。当然是说某某人面临这挑战，有听说过挑战面临着某某人的吗。。

Facing the nation 是定语丛句,这里为了补充说明challenge.
