Clutch fork assembly items 54,55,56, & 57 set-up
The clutch fork assemblies must be properly aligned with their respective shafts to ensure smooth operation. Alignment must be carefully checked before the assemblies are securely bolted in place and the pin locators are installed.
1. Install item 243 into clutch rings using locktite 242. Tighten the detent screws until they are lightly seated on the shaft. Do not clamp on shaft.with all Three lightly seated back off 1/2 turn.
2. Locate the clutch ring in the center detent of the shaft. Using a level check that the fork of the clutch fork assembly is in the vertical position. Adjust the position of the assembly in necessary.
3. Using feeler gages check for uniform clearance at the three locations shown above.again adjust the position of the assembly if necessary. It is important That the fork caps do not contact the clutch rings when the detents are seated. They are not designed to run in continuous contact.
