though的一个用法

Travelling on these line was inconvenient，though，as each line was separately owned and many were very far from each other．
老师说这里though解释为然而，我怎么觉得不通呢？是不是有什么减缓语气的作用呢？另外，though前面的逗号可以去掉吗？如果解释为但是，应该可以去掉的。

though一般有这两种意思：
连接词 conj.

1.虽然;尽管
Though he is rich, his life is not happy.
他虽然很有钱,但生活并不幸福。

副词 ad.

1.(一般放在句尾)然而,还是
It was a hard job, he took it though.
这是份苦差事,可他还是接受了。

但有时也是语气助词~

有什么减缓语气的作用,没什么具体意义，口语中用的啊，再例如I think you are right--- I will ask others,though. 我觉得你对——我再问问别人也好。有轻微转折的意思，减缓语气，作为副词用

这边的though其实没有什么实际意思，我也不觉的是然而的意思，上下句翻译的 时候这个单词可以省略，个人观点！呵呵
