provided that和in that的区别，好像都表示因为的意思呀

provided that
假如, 倘若

in that
由于, 因为
既然

provided that是“假设，如果，前提是”的意思
例如：You can borrow the book provided that you return it on time.
你可以把书借走，但必须及时归还。

in that才是“因为”的意思，等于because. 但in that表示的因果关系不如because那么强烈。
They are similar in that they both like chemistry.
他们很相像，因为大家都喜欢化学。
（上面的句子里面，将in that改成because也可以。不过在这里并不是强调因为两个人都喜欢化学，所以他们很相像；而是解释为什么说他们很相像。）

两者意思是有具体其别的，provided that 并不是“因为”的意思

【provided that】假如，若是，在。。。条件下

【in that】（在这一点上)由于，因为
