明星宣传策略之所以能够创造出市场轰动效应，其作用机制在于公众对于明星形象的崇拜。人都有一种“爱屋及乌”的移情心理。公众对于明星形象的崇拜，会转移为喜爱明星所推荐的商品。这样，明星形象在公共关系宣传中便具有特殊的作用。

3、明星形象能够让现代人体验到一种浪漫化的非凡爱情。在影视作品中，明星形象的容姿比较好，特别是通过艺术包装后，其非凡的银屏形象更加具有人格魅力，人们通过这些爱情化主题、爱情化台词（歌词）、爱情化形象的渲染，能够间接地尝到一种神话般的伟大爱情，因此对明星容易产生一种情感上的幻想。这可以说是青少年公众崇拜明星的一个重要原因。
