For Chinese nationals the answer can be just China,or narrowed dowm to the specificprovince or city.If the person who asks the question does not understand Mandarin,one's citizenship is often an adequate reply.But if he or she is an overseas Chinese or has some knowledge abaot China,the answer may inclue province,cityand even district.Having experienced both situations often enough,but i am beginning to feel that much more is involved in this seemongly simple conversation.

对于一些生活经验不多的人们,在同一地方生活并成长,这个问题的答案也当然会很简单.但是对于一些在老家出生并成长,之后在其他城市甚至其他国家工作,结婚,生活的人们来说,这个问题无疑不是个恶作剧.这些人们有很多可以回答"你来自哪里"这个问题的答案.为什么而且他们将要如何透露这么多关于他们自身的事情呢.
