3.C instead 意为“代替”、“而不是”，后面加of时可接多种形式词语。
而instead一般当副词使用，用在句末。
rather than意为“而不是……”、“与其……宁愿……”，其后面一般接动词原形，有时接名词或形容词。要注意句子平衡，即前后必须是相同的名词单位。除了与rather than 有固定搭配关系的一些句子结构以外。大多可用instead of代替。
except是“除...之外”，表示不包括前面指的那样东西。
而rather，很明显，它不象rather than 那样，后面有连词than,所以这样是说它也相当于副词，用在句末，不于其他词语连用。
