UC知道为什么总是 more than ? 究竟该怎样翻译？

“大概凌晨3点多”，这个问题多本人请教了很多年，在白度上也请教了几个星期，一直得不到一个肯定性答案。就是不明白这个“多”该怎么翻译？很多专家级人马建议我当成More than来翻译。可是我所强调的是3点左右，刚过一点点。重点是3，而不是重点“多”，用More than 100% 错了。多一秒是More than, 多十年、八年还是More than.
英语的时间表达：
从整点到29分， 如凌晨3点10分，用 past ：
it was 10 minutes past 3 o'clock in the morning.
从30分到整点，如凌晨差15分四点 （3点45分），用to：
it was 15 minutes to 4 o'clock in the morning.
在你的情况下，没有确切的分钟，用 a few minutes.
It was a few minutes past three o'clock in the morning.
追问
这完全不是口语吧？
just pass 3:00
Approximately past 3:00 am
或者probably past 3:00 am
it's about three o'clock in the morning
我想，用about就可以了吧，不用那么麻烦，more than什么的也太奇怪了。
决不能用More than ,其他的楼上的都已经说过了，我也不用多做解释。
我觉得可以用about，如果这个3点多没必要详细叙述的话。
