Qingtian county is located in the Southeast Zhejiang province and along the middle and lower part of Oujiang River. It borders Wenzhou on the east, Ruian and Wencheng on the south, Lishui and Jingning on the west and Jinyun on the north. The whole county has 23 countryside areas and ten towns with an area of 2,493 square kilometers and a population of 487 thousand.

Qingtian enjoys a long history. It has been over 1,200 years since the county was established in the second Jingyun year (711 A.D.) of Ruizong Emperor Tang dynasty. It was originally under the jurisdiction of Chuzhou and then Wenzhou special district after the founding of People’s Republic of China. It was changed to be administered by Lishui district in May 1963. In July 2000, Qingtian is subject to Lishu city after the revocation of Lishui district and establishment of Lishui city.

The most famous place in Qingtian is Oujiang River.
