CRES-T (chimeric repressor gene–silencing technology)
It dominantly suppresses the transcription of genes regulated by the transcription factor of interest and is a useful technique for functional analysis of transcription factors
For example, you can generate a CRES-T mutant library for transcription factors thta you are interested at, and use the library to identify the funcation/role of these transcription factors.
It involves only the expression of a fusion protein (a transcriptional activator with a repression domain). The repressive activity of the chimeric repressor can overcome the activities of endogenous and functionally redundant transcription factors, with resultant induction of a dominant negative phenotype.
