UC知道【冠词使用】这个好像有矛盾腻！！！

某些之人的名词，在做表语时不指一个具体的人，而是是该名词抽象化，具有形容词的性质时，习惯上不用冠词。
举了个例子：He is architect enough to design a large haill.其中的architect 没有冠词，这个很合乎情理。可是有一道题不明白：
He is _____ .he ran away when the robber threatened his wife.
A.more a coward than man
B.more coward than man
C.more the coward than a man
D.more coward than the man
这道题选A其中的coward（胆小鬼） 不是符合上面的说明吗？为什么 用a啊 55555？？？

例句中的architect 是当形容词用的，后面跟的副词。但是下一句中的胆小鬼是实质名词，并没有形容词的意思。
他是个懦夫，不是个男子汉。枪匪威胁老婆的时候，他居然逃跑了。如果换成He is coward enough to ran away就不用冠词了。
