with the assumption that 表示"因为众所周知",that 后面是同位语,但with后面整个作为原因状语.p.s.assumption:众所周知的事,普遍被接受的事情

with是做原因状语的，意思可翻译成'因为.....".整句意思是“这种行为被认为是纯人类行为，因为有这样的猜测其他动物不可能有这种发达的痛苦感”。
