哈姆莱特 生存还是毁灭，这是一个值得考虑的问题；默然忍受命运的暴虐的毒箭，或是挺身反抗人世的无涯的苦难，通过斗争把它们扫清，这两种行为，哪一种更高贵？死了；睡着了；什么都完了；……

背景：哈姆雷特在父亲突然死亡、叔叔继位娶嫂的情况下，一个深夜见到父亲冤死的鬼魂，让他复仇。哈姆雷特一面怀疑父亲的死，愤慨于叔叔和母亲的行为，一面却怕鬼魂是个陷井。他半信半疑，因此精神恍惚，而为了逃避叔叔的试探和迫害，他决定装疯。在这样的折磨里，他说出了上面的话。
