In the central parts of India and particularlyin the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, the
farmers grow soybean variety ‘‘MACS-13’’ on a large scale. The general complaint from the
farmers who tender their seed for processing is that this varietyhas been found to exhibit lower
germination after processing and during storage. This maybe due to the mechanical damage the

during processing. In addition, the storage behavior of seed and the loss in qualitydue to free-fall

2. Materials and methods
Six lots of seeds of soybean variety ‘‘MACS-13’’ were selected at three different m:c:’s and their
