Background: (During the Anti-Japanese War, the Chinese government and the Communist force agreed to set aside their difference and fight against the Japanese. A group of 18 wounded soldiers retreated to Sha Jia Bang, a lakeside village, for recovery. On the event of a Japanese mopping-up operation, they hid in the reed marshes of the Yang-Cheng lake. The Japanese failed to seize these soldiers but found a small group of Chinese roving bandits and asked them to hunt those wounded. The residents of Sha Jia Bang were returning from their escape of the mopping-up operation. At the meantime the roving bandits also marched into this village.
