“...could prevent being overweight”吗？
原句是“该糖能抑制有害菌生长，不龋齿，不使人发胖”
这里我主要想问下'prevent'的用法对吗？

Is this a weightloss candy? If not, I wouldn't use the word "prevent." It gives the impression that by eating the candy that they will not gain weight from ANY other foods eaten. If you want to say that eating the candy will not cause you to gain weight then you are unlikely to be able to use the word "prevent."
