如果亚硝酸缓腐蚀剂被使用到，我们应保持亚硝酸盐（二氧化氮）含量约1500毫克/升，PH值应该在 8.5到9.5。
在紧急情况下，对冷却水可以做添加亚硝酸钠5 kg/m3(每立方5千克) 的处理。为获得9的PH值，如果有必要，可以放入稀释烧碱（氢氧化钠，氢氧化钠）。
